Mercury Amalgam fillings and health risks

Mercury Amalgam fillings and health risks

2025 research has shown clearly that the more amalgam filling you have, and the greater the surface area of those fillings, the higher the concentration of mercury in your urine.

According to the research (1), the reason is that the fillings release mercury vapour that finds its way into the bloodstream.

Dental Amalgam contains 50% of Mercury by weight; other elements used include silver, tin, copper, and zinc.

The research studied 180,811,187 Americans between the ages of 18–70 years-old, all with known dental amalgam fillings. The more fillings you had, the higher the concentration of mercury in your urine.

The key questions include ‘Do higher concentrations link to increased health and cancer risks?

In America, the FDA: considers amalgam safe for adults and children over 6 but acknowledges potential risks for high-risk groups (pregnant women, children under 6, individuals with kidney impairment, or specific genetic sensitivities like ApoE4).

Approximately two thirds of adults have amalgam fillings. They have been a standard practice in dentistry for 150 years, where people have cavities.

In contrast, the European Union: Implemented a comprehensive ban on mercury dental amalgam from January 1, 2025, aligning with the Minamata Convention to phase out mercury due to environmental toxicity and precautionary health concerns.

IARC, the International Agency for cancer research considers elemental mercury and inorganic mercury compounds as Group 3 (not classifiable as to carcinogenicity), reflecting inadequate evidence in humans.

Organic green juices including broccoli, wheatgrass, coriander (cilantro) and chlorella can help reduce mercury, especially if you add agents such as zeolite. Selenium 200 mcg a day can also bind to and neutralise mercury.

If you are really concerned, you can visit an Holistic dentist to have the amalgam fillings replaced. I will be asking Elmar Jung a top holistic Dentist in the UK about this in my forthcoming Sunday Show.

I had mine replaced 25 years ago.
