The new mRNA flu shots offer little extra benefit but up to 6 times more side-effects than traditional flu shots, which don’t appear to have been that good anyway. The added unmentioned risk is that the new mRNA shots are also gene therapies.
A History of ‘the flu’
Historical data indicates that the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic was the deadliest in modern UK history, killing an estimated 228,000 people.
In 1989–1990 there was another severe outbreak, with estimates attributing between 19,000 and 29,000 deaths to the virus.
In 1951, a significant epidemic in England and Wales caused weekly death rates in cities like Liverpool to surpass those of the 1918 pandemic peak.
In recent years mortality has been increasing. Official registration data for England and Wales shows 1,598 direct influenza deaths in 2018 and 1,223 in 2019.
However, if you include other complications (such as pneumonia) the 2014–15 and 2017-2018 seasons were among the most lethal in recent decades, with estimated deaths ranging from 25,000 to 35,000.
Now all this may seem rather inexact to you and it does to me.
‘Flu Vaccines
While the first flu vaccines were developed globally in the 1940s (licensed for military use in 1945 and civilians in 1946), the UK's organised national rollout for at-risk populations began in the late 1960s.
Initially, the vaccine was not available to the general public but was targeted specifically at clinical risk groups—individuals with underlying health conditions who were at the highest risk of severe illness or death.
The programme has since expanded significantly:
2000: Extended to include all individuals aged 65 and over.
2010: Added pregnant women.
2013: Launched a universal programme for children (initially ages 2–3, gradually expanding to school ages).
More vaccines, more deaths?
And here’s the problem. The Government orders its vaccines roughly 18 months in advance of the flu season, so inspired guesswork is the controlling factor.
The UK Government, specifically Public Health England (PHE), admitted in February 2015 that the flu vaccine ordered for the 2014–2015 season was a ‘mismatch’ for the dominant circulating strain. The Guardian published an article saying that the Government knew months before that the vaccine did not match the flu strain, however, doctors were still encouraging patients to try it. This unfortunately shows how little some doctors know about virology.
A Cleveland Clinic review for the winter of 2024-2025, showed a similar issue in the USA. In fact, worse, people taking the vaccine had 27% more cases of ‘flu infections than those not taking the shot! Yup, vaccines can lower the immune system; we know this.
The BBC ran a story last year showing ‘flu data was spiking much higher than previously quoting the NHS as saying it was facing its "worst-case scenario" after the number of people in hospital with flu jumped by 55% in a week in England with almost 8,000 hospital beds filled.
Health experts at the King's Fund think tank have said talk of an "unrelenting flu wave" has become worryingly familiar over recent years in the UK.
The bottom line is that the cases since the pandemic have risen markedly, and the vaccines appear to have had little effect.
The new mRNA flu vaccine
The FDA has approved the latest money spinner for the USA. Yes, that’s right. mRNA vaccines are cheaper and quicker to make than previous versions.
Although the USA reports stated that the new vaccines were ‘Superior to traditional vaccines’, it turned out when reading the research that in reality they deliver less than a 1-percentage-point absolute reduction in symptomatic, PCR-confirmed influenza-like illness.
In the Clinical trials, the mRNA vaccine was only slightly superior to the old vaccine in terms of prevention. But almost 6 times more people had some sort of side effect than was reported with the old fashioned vaccines (1).
73% of people taking the new mRNA vaccine developed side effects - 60% ‘mild to moderate’ side-effects, while 6.4% of Moderna patients exhibited ‘severe reactions’ (stronger side-effects that limited daily activity) and 2.2% experienced ‘Serious Adverse Reactions’ (2). The Pfizer shot was roughly the same (3).
Both vaccines - mFlusiva from Moderna and the unnamed as yet Pfizer shot - were approved.
Gene therapies not vaccines
We have told you before that mRNA vaccines are nothing of the sort. They are gene therapies - and the definition of a vaccine had to be changed by the CDC in the USA so that they could be called vaccines!
Worse, Thomas Jefferson Medical School research showed that human cells could transcribe foreign mRNA into your DNA through polymerase theta.
We will be adding the question into our PP forms for Cancer patients. After ‘have you been vaccinated against Covid?’, we will be asking, ‘have you been vaccinated against the ‘flu?’
In the past 25 years, I’ve only had the ‘flu once, but the doctor called it Covid.
Will the ‘flu be the next pandemic?
